He's thinking that the app checks if there is a VPN connection on the iPad. If the connection is done on an iPhone then tethered to the iPad it wouldn't see a VPN connection on the iPad.
So I had my friend try it and iphone doesn't seem to be able to connect to VPN and do mywi at the same time. VPN disconnects after mywi connects and won't reconnect after.
PPTP vpn on my android doesn't work with my firewall so i can't test it either

I don't know if anyone has heard of this hosting service, Bluehost.
They are offering 4gigs of storage and 100gb of bandwidth for only $6.95/month.

Flickr already stores location information for photos - not GPS-based, but you can browse maps and assign pictures to a specific location where you took them, and then search/browse all users shared photos by location. I could see iPhoto doing something similar, with the add-in of recognizing GPS data.

You didn't mention your Cydia version; I will assume it is 1.0.3222-73. This is a long shot, but you might try installing the newer version of Cydia, 1.0.3366-1, to see if that helps. You can get it here:
http://apt.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb
You would need to use SSH to put this on your iPhone, somewhere like /var/stash. Then you would navigate to the .deb file in iFile, tap it and select Installer from the menu.
The problem with cracked apps, aside from the piracy aspect, is that you would never really know what you are getting.
By the way, that "essential upgrade" was like a month ago wasn't it? And your Cydia apparently was working for a while after that. Did you install that Icy app? I tried that and found it was making the AppStore act funny and I had to get rid of it. I never saw a problem with Cydia, but maybe because I never actually installed much of anything with Icy.

No problem. I have windows 7 installed on my MacBook Pro. In the weekend I'll boot to windows and figure out a window solution.
I made a new connection in windows 7 for a VPN, the vpn worked fine but didn't work for optimum app for live tv, if you have a solution for windows that would be great :)

I reset network settings first. When that didn't work, I hooked it up to the computer and tried a full restore to factory settings. When that didn't work, I tried resetting the network again, so I guess I've done all I can do on my own. I'll look into the cost of repairs. I'm pretty sure I don't have Apple Care so we'll have to see what the best option is. Thanks!

Uhm... "Dock, The" just looks weird (and meaningless) to me. Better to just drop the "The" completely then.
I'm on board with that. Looks better.

Something neat about the angle of the sign, it makes the avatar border look as though it's tilting right. Strangely appropriate.

Hi everyone - being a newbie the following:
Just installed a bigger and faster new HD in the mini - is there any way to start the OS installation without a wired keybd? (i.e pressing 'c' ) all I get now is some DVD churning sounds and a grey screen telling me to restart the machine.
If there is no way - how would I go about ejecting the darned DVD out of the mini without taking everything apart?
hoping for some good answers.
If you have an unformated hard drive in there then the Mini should automatically boot from the DVD, no key press required. The Mini should look for any available bootable OS's on startup and lacking it's default, choose one.
Are you getting a Kernel Panic screen on boot? A gray screen telling you to restart your computer by pressing the power button in multiple languages? If so then something is amiss, because unless something has changed in the last few years, without a bootable OS the mini should just flash a circle with a line through it (no idea what the symbol is called, but like a No Smoking sign without a cigarette in it).
Are you trying to start up from the Restore DVD that came with the Mini or a retail Snow Leopard DVD?

Technically I switched 18 months ago when I bought my iBook, but with my new 1GHz iMac now sat proudly where my PC has been for the last 4 years, only now do I feel as though the process is complete!
3 years ago now, The Creative Director at the Design agecny I worked for was a huge mac-man and convinved the MD that the office needed an (original) iMac to be used as an ISDN machine so as to free up his G4. In a move totally unlike the MD he plumped for exactly the right model and soon after a new iMac DV was sat next to the G4. Now, I'd used Macs before and altough I had no problems with them, had never seen what they could do over PCs. Then I saw iMovie! I was instantly hooked - I'd done a media degree and alot of my work involved video editting on the studios Broadcast suite, and iMovie just blew everything else away in terms of its fun-factor and ease-of-use. My own DV-camcorder never wanted to talk to my PC/Firewire card and after 30 minutes of tweaks/resets and restarts i was luck to have captured 30 seconds of footage. As an experiment I took the cam into work one day, not holding out much hope of success as it wasnt on iMovie's compatible list. Needless to say, within 20 seconds iMac and camcroder were talking in perfect harmony!
A few months later and OS X arrived and I finally new I had to get me one of these things. the first Tibooks were stunning but far too expensive and the iBooks at that time just looked like toys to me. When the Snow iBooks rrived in mid 2001 I knew I had to have one and after a month or so of justifying the purchase, I bit the bullet and a few weeks later it turned up on my doorstep. I got a phone-call at work telling me it had arrived and couldnt wait to get home, but the others in the office were even more impatient and I drove home to pick it up!
18 months laters and my little iBook is still going strong, and now it's joined by the 1GHz iMac. My first desktop Mac replacing what will probably turn out to be my first (and last) personal PC.
Having read alot of the threads about the new iMacs on here I was a little sceptical at first as to whether or not it was the machine for me, but having used it for a few days all I can say is that it is the most stunning machine I've ever used. Even with only the stock 256mb RAM on-board (more in the post!) the whole system is responsive and speedy even when running Photoshop, Director, Flash, Word and Safari, Yahoo IM and iTunes at the same time (as I am now!). iMovie 3 runs just as well as iMovie 2 used to on my iBook and iDVD 3 is just looking so cool it's untrue! And the screen!!!? I remember pushing those things around in stores thinking "thats very clever, really smooth" but its only having worked with it properly that I realise just how awesome it is being able to move the screen around, rather than me!
I used to think my old Creative Director was a little mad for his almost hysterical PC bashing, now I know couldn't agree with him more!
...and to finish off, well...as they say, a picture speaks 1000 words...

I saw people setting up camp the night before at 9:00 PM. I don't want to be that far towards the end and besides I'm going to be working while camping out so it's win/win :)
9:00 PM? I can beat that.
Just let me know what time you'll go because i'm going alone and need someone to hold my spot while I utilize the local QFC's facilities :D

I gave up using Aperture to manage facebook and flickr images. It was way too slow, and I sometimes had Aperture delete a picture on Flickr after I did some more edits. I'd lose all the comments and favorites it had attached to it, which are part of the fun of posting there. I went back to manually uploading using the Flickr upload program.

Follow-up question: OWC or TransIntl? I've been very happy with OWC in the past, but TransIntl is 15% cheaper and gets good reviews in this forum.
OWC have heat spreaders and TransIntl does NOT (I can speak for the 8GB sticks only)

I have a Mini DV 1394 (firewire) cable that I plugged from the camera into my G4. It did not create a folder on my desktop, so I figured something was wrong. I tried using a Dazzle bridge, but that didn't work. I don't think I need the bridge anyways, as the camera has the 1394 outlet.
Couple quick questions:
1. Does something need to be configured on Final Cut Pro to help recognize the video? If so, what needs to happen? I opened up Final Cut but I couldn't get the software to recognize the camera being connected. Does Final Cut (or another software) need to be used to get the computer to recognize the connection?
2. Is there a configuration/setting on my G4 that needs to be set to recognize the video camera? If so, where should I go on the computer? Should I go into System Profiler to check for a connection?
Thanks in advance. I haven't tried any video stuff in a long time and I don't remember how to do anything.
