you can judge me all you want ... my family is both Canadian and American.
I live on both sides of the border.
sorry if I do not support everyone's Anti-American Military views.
Cutting the Military is not for me ... Even though I would have to pay higher taxes, I'd rather scrap all these Government Casinos and Government Bookies we have up in Canada than reduce even one dollar in Military spending.
You still have not explained your position. Why does a country NEED such a large military budget and how does it benefit the citizens of said country?

They're not using OLED screens. From the iPod nano tech specs:

It's definitely just a regular LCD screen.
oops, not sure how I missed that. I even combed through their page
Sorry guys. disregard what I said :(

While I can understand the iMovie Pro sentiments I'm personally not so bothered about the interface re-design. I've been using FCP since it came out and Premiere before that and to me the biggest sell is the speed ramp (64bit.) I'm curious as to what people might have thought if a new look FCP had come out before iMovie had even been released? It's likely it would have looked similar anyway since that is obviously the approach (visual and UI) that Apple is now adopting.
Personally I'm quite excited but I would like to be able to upgrade my whole FCP suite though (at a discount.) These days I use Motion as much as FCP and I'd seriously like to see the render bar 'disappear' from that... ;-)

Uh, isn't the world in 3D? I mean, we do see in three dimensions, correct? Is this a clever way of saying you are blind?
The world is in 3D but we only see in 2D, with depth perception if you have two working eyes. 3D vision would entail all three dimensions being visible at once. You can see the entire width and height of something but you can't see its entire depth in the same glance. A 3D view would allow you see all the corners of a cube as right angles just like 2D vision lets you see all right angles of a square.
IOW organic depth perception is as much a gimmick as 3D as a consumer product. Both instances entail two slightly disparate 2D images that give your brain a better idea of where in space they are, not an entire extra visual dimension of information. Nothing evolutionary in regards to visual media, barely enriching, and not at all necessary.

Wow...I didn't expect this announcement to be so early in the month. So what is left for the MacWorld?
My money is on Apple announcing the iTV and Leopard earlier than expected.

No, more a way of saying that a little screen, or any screen, lives IN a 3D world. The best explanation I've ever read I found on Roger Ebert's site. It's worth a read:

Speak for yourself. Us with 3GSs will jump ship, Esp with all the awesome stuff google is doing. Apple needs to get on the game and release updates more often, not the opposite. That's a horrible idea! I mean... Unlike the other manufacturers, apple only makes ONE type of new phone a year. One.
Something tells me that one still using a 3GS isn't likely a must have "latest and greatest" kind of consumer. I had a 3GS which I bought on Day One. ATT let nearly everyone upgrade early to the 4 so I did. It was a no brainer. Why you stuck it out w/ the 3GS I can't say but to be bitching and moaning Apple doesn't upgrade fast enough like you are is silly. If you only upgrade every 3 years what difference would more frequent upgrades possibly make in your life? I think you protesteth too much.

Yes more megapixel isn't everything and Apple proved it with their 5MP camera compared to those 8MP camera on other phones.
BUT don't forget that Apple will not just upgrade to 8MP but the lens also!
With a better lens and more MP the iPhone 5 camera quality will really shine!

Interesting points considering you don't know the music I listen to. But you are probably correct in some ways. It is interesting that some of the innovation came from EMI technicians in the studio and the Beatles themselves were influenced by countless other American artists so who made who first?

I like your 'games' point but not so sure about your other claims.
Did you mean that Windows buyers ARE more techno-savvy?
Or that Techno-Savvy types tend to avoid Macs?
The average buyer today is less tech-savvy. 10 years ago, soccer moms and hipsters didn't own laptops. Those who actually had email accounts or myspace pages would use the family desktop computer or a machine in a computer lab.
Today, your grandmother has a facebook page and a yahoo/hotmail/gmail account and probably has her own laptop.
Higher Prices for Better Machines.
Fantastic designs are not cheap. And Apple never skimps on Components
Quality Windows PCs cost about the Same as Macs but don't have iLife.
Actually, Apple does skimp on components. They charge more for the same hardware that PC manufacturers use, and Macs are never at the bleeding edge of hardware tech (probably because their profit margins would disappear due to price pressures)[/quote]
You think a Mom or kid wouldn't think the Mac OS is more attractive and easier to use?
You say "People telling them Macs are good" but are not clear why they do tell them that. Are Macs really good or is "All marketing"?
More attractive? Maybe not anymore... Windows 7 has made pretty big strides in terms of UI. There isn't much wrong with Mac as a computing platform, but lets be honest here.... Mac's strength as a computing platform is *not* what is propping up their sales. PC's still do it cheaper and just as easily (if not easier) for 90% of the tasks a typical user undertakes.
'Cool'
What does that mean? Is it just another word for 'Trendy'?
How did Macs get to be cool or trendy?
I always defined cool as 'being comfortable being yourself'
Are you serious? Maybe you're new here? Apple fans are 2 steps shy of being brainwashed cult members and its no secret to anyone that Apple's hype/marketing department is probably the strongest weapon in their arsenal. They are very adept at pushing their products.
Finally, why does every switcher I meet have the same expression on their face. They all look relieved, like we have just pulled them into the life boat.
Cool may get you to buy something but it can't make you LOVE something.
So why do Mac users LOVE their machines so much?
If you own one I don't really have to explain.
Really? I'd tell you about the pained expressions on one switcher's face I know after asking me (again) to salvage whatever data I could off of the 3rd hard drive that her macbook ate, but it is beside the point.
Are macs decent computers? Yes. Are people buying them en mass because it is 'cool'? Definitely.

I buy my CD's from pawn shops, then rip 'em to MP3. Cheaper, when you consider if I get sick of a particular disk, I can always sell it back to the pawn shop.
A few years ago Pepsi had this promotion during the summer where you got a free iTunes song download code under the cap of something like 1 in 4 bottles.
I ended up with a big bag of those winning caps, and gave most of them to my nephew. At the time, I found a lot of artists missing from the iTunes roster. AC/DC was one of them.
Nice that iTunes is expanding their catalog, but I doubt much of todays R&B and Hip Hop youth are going to flock to iTunes to get 'Why can't we do it in the road?".

Sounds like Wal-Mart may have an as-yet-unannounced partnership with MS or Amazon (more likely the latter, as Amazon is already delivering movies).
Why else throw this much weight at the issue?
Time will tell at this point...
Oh, and I agree - F Wal-Mart!

The other company's comparable machines to the MacBook Pro have C2D processors. The ones that compete against the MacBook don't for the most part. Apple didn't drop the ball.
Correct! The MB is an excellent value as-is. Of course we all want "more" for our money, and I expect Apple to drop the C2D into MBs soon - if not now, by MWSF at the latest. And if they offer a graphics chip as a BTO option, that's just icing on the cake - at their current price-point, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep integrated graphics, though (in part to push sales of MBPs for those needing a graphics chip.)

My take on this is that in order for the iPOD Classic to survive, it needs the larger HDs now available, IOS & a touch screen. Then it would be essentially a tiny iPAD + a large capacity iPOD and I think some people not wanting to carry around such a large device as the iPAD might like that.
Otherwise, if sales are sluggish, they'll have no choice but to euthanize it. Pity, because it's still the only Apple device that many people can fit their ENTIRE music collection on. My iPhone certainly doesn't and doesn't for many people.

Yeah, not really into that mentality either. As for the previous 2 posters. thanks for the response, but it wasn't necessary to patronize me as if I don't know what a serious relationship entails, and make assumptions. You didn't really provide any further insight, besides 'I need to keep the peace'. I stated in my post, the only issue should be about money. If you can't afford it, you certainly shouldn't even ask your wife permission to buy it, its just irresponsible and childish. If you can afford it, the wife shouldn't be able to stop you 'just because'. Does she run her purchases by you? Doubtful. Not every ****ing thing needs to be a joint decision where 'approval' is required. In many relationships, what would happen if the husband refused to give permission to the wife to buy something she wants? He would be seen as cheap, assholish, rules with an 'iron fist', controlling, a bad husband, etc etc. It wouldn't stand. But the wife can have veto for purchasing decisions as she pleases, even though the guy brings home most or all of the income? That's called unreasonable, so **** that ****.
I think this attitude comes from backlash due to the fact that historically, men have been "king of the castle" and women have been subjugated. It's almost as if people are trying to make up for that.
This is silly; relationships should be on equal grounds. And EVERYONE should be able to do something awesome for themselves now and then, whether it be an iPad, a nice meal out, and so on.

I don't know how to include a screenshot in here but can anyone explain what the item in the Preferences > Advanced > General is that says:
'Allow iTunes control from remote speakers'
Also, while looking for iTunes7 I read that v 6.0.5 could send audio to more than one set of remote speakers simultaneously. How do you do that?
