Oh, the video iPod is coming! :D
But I'd be dissappointed if the circular control of the original iPod is missing.
the click wheel would presumably be a "virtual" one that appears on the screen.

I don't think a touch bezel would preclude the use of a touch screen also.

I was in 8th grade, in Latin Class.
I didn't know what was going on until I got home.
None of the teachers would tell me what was going on.
All I knew is that people kept going home all day. Since I wanted to skip algebra (I hated that class so much!) I wanted to, too, but the teacher would only say "no, you don't want to"
We didn't watch the TV at all, but in english we had a discussion.
Some moron said "let's bomb all those *expletive*-head turban wearing sand *another expletive* KILL THEM ALL!"
I was just confused and shocked at why we would want to bomb whole countries.
I remember getting home, and my mom showed me what was going on. Dan Rather was reporting.
I didn't really know the scope of it freshman or sophomore year.
It was weird.
(but then, this question came up in english my sophomore year, and I got into a big fight with my teacher. whoops!)

If it is a simple GPS device like the Garmin iQue(sp?) it won't do well as most cars these days can get equipped with them at a fair price. The place that this device might do well is Korea, seeing as many of their mp3/video player manufactures have included GPS integrated or as an add on on their player. Like the new Cowon P5, and N2.
Now if it is a gps system in a camera now that would be interesting but kind of pointless? Unless someone can give a reason why it maybe good.
And gps on a phone is nothing new as Nextel and Verizion already have this option. Unless it is google maps for a phone that isn't a pda things may get interesting.

With my car system, volume 18 with my iPhone maxed is equivelent to around 30 with my Nano - at this volume I have the sound of gentle hissing when paused. Not cool.
I'd say Nano is loud enough for general headphone use, but if there is background noise it's not that loud. If I'm spending for something to house my entire music collection, it can't be second to my phone for music volume. That's just silly.

My roommate is taking a geography class in college right now. (Just an FYI, he is an older student in his 30's).
His teacher works for google on their maps. He has slipped in class several times saying Apple is working on putting GPS into the iPod. (He, the teacher, knows this because it is what he does full time for Google).
Anyway, this looks like the GPS in iPhoto is not related to the iPod, but eh you never know, iPhoto does work with the iPod in a way now as it is...

Hi
I'm trying to learn how NSFileManger works and I want to test out some methods with files that i have created. Let say the file name is called "testFile". Now the question is where do i put the file, in which folder? I tried the fileExistsAtPath method and it keeps giving me the file does not exist message. By the way, im using Xcode 4
Thank you for your precious time.

New here, and planning to purchase a new mac mini for next school year. Here are some question, hope someone can help me out. I had already read some of this, but still want to make sure.
I would use for school work, some graphic designing, music composing, and of course a bit gaming.
2.4GHz or 2.66GHz ? Would it be different of the performance?
Would like to upgrade ram, a little question that on the apple website is "8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM (add $300...)", and I saw someone said this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231294
would be work fine, is it?
I had already got a bluetooth keyboard with said work with windows, mac, android etc. could it be work? and might also a bluetooth mouse I use with windows right now.. I know it kind of dum question, but just want to make sure and save some money.
About the applecare, should i buy it as well or not? If not, could I buy it like 11 months after i purchase the mac mini?
Thanks for reading my questions, and all of the answers :)

I just saw the update available in software update and clicked install. Pity as I wanted to see whether the app store would show it as an update. (I bought Aperture the traditional way rather than through the app store)

whats new??? so apple isnt telling us exactly what is in our machines. last time i checked apple didt tell us that the DVD burners in our systems are capable of doing DVD-RW. why would they tell us that they are using a different manufacturer??? and, oh no!!! more formats!!! they better not tell us and add to the value of buying a mac

I'll buy that for a dollar! :D
I will buy the MBA when it gets a backlit keyboard. I really like the small, light form but need to be able to see the keys in a dark room (or stage). The sales guy at the Apple store just told me to "crank the screen brightness and tilt the display down to light the keys". :D Yeah, uh no, the last thing I need in the dark is a brighter screen.
Also, it would be nice to get Thunderbolt I/O and (really dreaming now) higher capacity/cost effective SSD storage.
I think when you get a decent amount of SSD capacity without a huge price jack MBA sales will jump even more.

Go look at Pages; Word's been the "standard" for years and Pages can write Word documents. I'm sure if Lasso, Numbers, Charts, etc. will also be able to save in Excel documents. I believe AppleWorks can, and if this is a step up, and since the world has moved a little more, there should be no problem with Excel and Apple's new application.
Hopefully, but Open Office can do a heck of a lot, and few have adopted it. For Free !!!
I agree that if Lasso, Numbers, Charts, etc. can save in a format that is pallatable to Excel - it will be more likely to succeed, but after second thoughts, I realize Apple will need what Open Office doesn't have: Marketing Dollars.

Arn,
Drop the top banner below the tab section. Make sure you have no padding so the ad isn't over barring like it currently is. Also, put the search form in the tab area. This will make your page look a whole bunch better. Take a look at News.com (http://www.news.com) to get the idea.
Take a look at this pic. I didn't do all the code work to make all thigs line up but you should be able to see the direction to go with.

Technically AM3 CPUs will work in AM2+ boards. Problem is that DDR2 is a dead end at this point. DDR3 is so cheap nowadays I see no reason in not buying it and enabling yourself to use newer CPUs and chipsets.
As far retail stores - vast majority of people working at those stores don't have a clue. Also, not to sound sexist but why would you ask women to begin with? Yes, I've seen women that know about this stuff but they are rare and far between. Of course not to say that I can't imagine hearing such nonsense from a male employee.

Why would I not want to use an FM transmitter? what would you recommend?
Oh, hmmm...., sorry, maybe you would. I was guessing it was beneath the level you're shooting form because the sound quality won't be quite CD-level... But it's the cheapest, easiest solution. You get something like the Griffin iTrip, and maybe a powered antenna for your receiver to strengthen the signal? Then you just select a station in an unused portion of the radio bandwidth and voila.
But again, not CD quality....But it might not be so bad either. It depends on the music you listen to, and how much of an audiophile you consider yourself. If you take relatively "quiet" music -- anything acoustic, especially baroque or chamber music, but even someone singing over a guitar, I think you will probably be able to notice a small amount of hissing or static if you concentrate, vs. a wired connection.
Griffin iTrip: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itrip/
Powered antennas should be readily available anywhere quality receivers are sold.
As far as the iTrip goes, there are often deals for it on dealnews.com -- you can also use it to listen to your iPod in the car.

I was 7th in line...the Apple employees were really getting into it with the high fives before the store opened and afterwards as well. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes and am now in the process of installing it on my MacBook Pro. :apple:

Mine were in DVD form in OS X 10.3.

Hi All,
I thought that I would post this and let you know how I formatted my new 1TB external for both HFS+ and NTFS. It had been a few years since I had done that so I checked the internet and got an array of contrary and convoluted information. But, this is what worked for me.
Pretty simple and straightforward.
In Mac:
Disk Utility> Partition
-create two partitions. You'll determine their sizes.
Partition 1 format HFS+ I named it MAC External
Partition 2 format MS DOS (FAT) I named it W7 External
-Exit Mac
In Windows 7
Open Disk Management
Locate your external drive.
You will see the Mac partition and you will see an Unallocated partition. Choose the Unallocated partition, (that will become your W7) but you will need to name it and format it NTSF.
-Exit Disk Management
Done.
That was it. Hope it works for you as well.
More room is nice on both sides. I did my image and then backup copy for W7. And now in Mac I decided to use Time Machine for the very first time, since I found this application to schedule Time Machine more eco nomically (hour, or day, or week, or month...instead of it's current hourly updating). I could see why people ran out of hard drive space. The free application I found is called Time Machine Editor. Hope it works, if not I will do a SuperDuper clone and call that good. The link for Time Machine Editor http://timesoftware.free.fr/timemachineeditor/
Also on a side note, the new drive is a Hitachi 7200/1TB and it was so quiet that I had to check the enclosure repeatedly to reafirm that it was running. Very very very quiet drive. This drive replaced the original noisy Seagate that was in my LaCie Quadra2 enclosure. And firewire does really play a key role when using these larger drive.
Hope some of this information is beneficial to our members.

I didn't try on a pc. The new one should arrive soon. It will be interesting to see if it's the drive or the firmware.
